Join the Max Planck Digital Library (MPDL) in Munich, a central institution within the Max Planck Society for the Advancement of Science (MPG), serving and supporting all 84 Max Planck Institutes and research centers in Germany and globally. The MPDL Communications & Press group is at the fore­front of promoting MPDL’s initiatives both internally and externally through innovative marketing cam­paigns, roadshows, digital platforms, social media, and diverse events. Our team is instrumental in craf­ting marketing strategies for MPDL’s array of tools and services and organizes interdisciplinary events.

Your tasks

  • Design and implement tailored communication concepts and strategies for diverse scientific audiences
  • Formulate and execute comprehensive and cross-platform social media strategies across MPDL channels (LinkedIn, Twitter, Instagram, and TikTok) to increase brand visibility and engagement
  • Be our face on social media: represent MPDL as the quintessential social media ambassador
  • Plan, create, and publish content across our various social media channels
  • Conduct monitoring and KPI-driven reporting to measure success and refine content strategies
  • Develop and collaborate on innovative marketing strategies in close partnership with the team, con­tribu­ting to the development and execution of campaigns that effectively promote MPDL’s initiatives and enhance our market presence
  • Lead the expansion of our marketing and social media footprint, cultivating engagement with our communities and Max Planck Institutes
  • Write press releases and news articles for websites, ensuring clear and engaging communication of MPDL’s initiatives and achievements
  • Foster community engagement and maintain stakeholder relationships
  • Manage daily operations for our websites and social media, including briefing, production, project management, scheduling, posting, and content creation
  • Collaborate with all MPDL departments to align marketing campaigns and events
  • Coordinate with external agencies and freelancers

Your profile

  • A university degree in communications, marketing, or comparable qualification
  • Circa three to five years of experience in PR, social media management, or a comparable position
  • Skilled ability to communicate complex scientific concepts
  • A deep understanding of innovative knowledge transfer within the scientific community
  • Fluency in the language of social media and adept at engaging with digital natives
  • Balanced creative mindset with strong analytical skills
  • Proficiency in data interpretation and establishing robust metrics for organic engagement, growth, and reach
  • Aspiration to be always up to date, follow trends, think outside the box – be a trendsetter with a knack for inno­vative thinking
  • Passion for science, innovation, technology, and current trends
  • Good knowledge of Adobe Creative Cloud, enabling the creation of visually compelling content
  • Fluency in German and English with proficiency in other languages is considered an advantage

Employment, social benefits, and remuneration are based on the Collective Agreement for the Public Service (TVöD Bund); grouping is based on qualifications.
